Popsicle & Palette 2025

 

Popsicle and Palette are carpet patterns designed for Swedish producer Kateha. The inspiration derives from observations in everyday life and during trips. Photos and memories have come together and in combination become something new – the patterns for Popsicle and Palette.

 

Popsicle is an interpretation of reflections and colour mixes that occur when light bounces of a high gloss surface like glass. The light breaking up in different colours, shades and shapes. Organic and soft shapes contrast sharper clean cuts creating a dynamic play between the colourful and rich and the minimal and empty.

 

The inspirations for Palette originally comes from a brick road where bricks are mixed together with other stones but has later evolved to also including inspiration from rag rugs and weaving techniques. The result is a controlled disorder where colours, shapes and lines come together and apart and create a tension between the directions of the lines.
